Topic: Behind the Seams with Kristin Haskins Simms, Best Strangefruit (Season 8 Designer, Project Runway) How she got started, a preview of her clothing and life after Project Runway
This event is hosted in partnership with the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia. The goal of the sustainable fashion circle is to bring together entrepreneurs that are interested in creating social change and/or being more sustainable in their fashion businesses. Each session will cover hot topics, trends, or offer an educational opportunity to advance your business. We will also help a fellow designer or fashion retailer resolve a business challenge that they are currently facing. Participants will submit their business challenges in advance and an entrepreneur will be selected to present at the circle.
Interested in submitting a challenge? Here's how it works:
In the Case Study sessions, the selected participants will briefly describe their situation and answer follow-up questions from the group, who will then give their feedback. We have found this to be a very powerful way for the entire group to gain a wealth of practical ideas about how to manage the challenges of running a socially responsible enterprise. Please fill out the Case Challenge question during registration in 500 words or less. While you may not be able to provide all of the information requested in this space, please note that the more thorough and honest your information is, the more valuable the advice will be.
In selecting case challenges, we look for several key components: enterprises at various stages of growth, well-framed and articulated problem statements, and opportunities to draw larger lessons for the whole group. We ask you to focus on one major strategic challenge that you are currently facing.
